On March 20, 2023, the first day of spring, my mom, Charlotte Hoeltzel Lieswald, rode that Oklahoma wind right to the gates of Heaven!
She was born on February 28, 1944 in Enid, Oklahoma, the 4th of 11 children born to Walter and June Hoeltzel. She attended grade school at Freehome and then at Meno when Grandpa and Grandma moved the family to the family farm, north of Meno. She graduated from Ringwood High School in 1962. Enid Beauty College brought her a 56 year career in the beauty business, starting out at Lakeview Shop, then co-owning her own salon, then working various salons before she put the scissors down in August of 2022. She always told me she wanted to work 'til she was 80!
She married my dad, Leroy Lieswald, on August 26, 1966. They lived in Germany for a year, while my dad was stationed there. It was perfect for her because she loved to travel, going on trips to South Dakota, Alaska, Ohio, New Mexico, and Michigan. She also loved flowers and her yard bore witness to that. Lately, she enjoyed going to casinos, usually winning just enough to refill her casino "kitty".
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
Loved by many, especially me, Tammi Lieswald, her only child, she is survived by 3 sisters; Sandra Crabtree, Rebekah Stevens, Debbra Stevens-Chattam (Tom) and 1 brother, Mark Hoeltzel (Joyce) all of Enid, Oklahoma, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Meeting her at Heaven's Gates were Grandpa Walter and Grandma June Hoeltzel and siblings, Marylyn Mills (Robert), Stephan Hoeltzel (Gail), David, Sheridan, Joseph Hoeltzel, and Kimberli (Dennis) Groom.
Arrangements are being made through Amy Stittsworth Funeral Service with mom's services being held Saturday, March 25th, 2023, 11:30 am, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Enid, Oklahoma and burial at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, south of Carrier, Oklahoma, with Pastor Kenneth Wade officiating.
