Robert I. BOYINGTON

Rose Hill Cemetery


Robert I. Boyington, living 1/4 of a mile West of Carrier, died at this home Friday morning at 6:10 following several months illness, due to the infirmities of old age.
Mr. Boyington was 84 years old having been born in Aug. 1836 and had resided in Garfield Co. since the opening of the Cherokee Strip in 1893. He was one of the best known among the old residence in this part of Oklahoma. He died on the homestead that he settled in 1893.

The deceased was a native of Northern Pennsylvania. He served throught out the Civil War on the side of the Union.

He is survived by one brother living in the East; two sons and daughters. All the children except one son who lives at Hillsdale, live at home.

Mrs. Boyington, who survives her husband was a Civil War Nurse and the only living person in this part of Oklahoma who bears that distinction. She is almost as old as her husband. The funeral services were held at the Carrier Church at 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery.
