Richard Smith
December 25, 1938 - November 9, 2024
Graveside services for Richard D. Smith, 85, of Waukomis, will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, November 14, 2024, at Paradise Cemetery, Breckenridge, Oklahoma, with Ch. (Maj) Chris Yeardin officiating. The United States Army will provide military honors at the graveside. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home and Crematory.
Richard was born December 25, 1938, in Enid, Oklahoma to Roy and Grace (Adams) Smith, and passed away Saturday, November 9, 2024 at his home in Waukomis.
Richard and Helen met on a blind date, later married and have been married 63 years. Richard served in the army and later attended Oklahoma State University where he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Education. Richard taught history in Ripley, Ok and Oklahoma History in Enid at Waller MS. After retirement, Richard enjoyed collecting and restoring classic cars. He also enjoyed spending time with friends, family and grand kids.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Grace Smith, and brother, Roy Leigh Smith. He is survived by his wife Helen Smith, of the home in Waukomis, two children, Theron Smith and wife Meredith, of Plano, TX, and Cindy Smith, of Frisco, TX, three grandchildren, Makenna Ast and husband Brenden, of Irving, TX, Tyler Stuckey and Oliver Richard Smith, both of Plano, TX. A sister, Nevaline Soderberg and husband Steve, of Cheshire, CT, also survives him, as well as a sister-in-law, Pat Smith, of Wichita, KS, nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends.
Memorial contributions in Richard's name may be made to the Woodring Wall of Honor with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
