Miles Joseph Maly
December 21, 1944 - December 11, 2022

The Lord gifted Miles Joseph Maly his first breath of this temporal life on November 21, 1944 on the family farm in Breckenridge, OK. He was the youngest of six children born to Karel Sr. & Emilie (Dymacek) Maly. Miles lived for 78 years on this earth and entered into the presence of his Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 11, 2022 at his home on the same family farm.

Miles graduated from Garber High School in 1963 and joined the Oklahoma Army National Guard while simultaneously attending Oklahoma State University of Agriculture and Applied Science.

In June 1974, Miles married Jeanette Koppitz of Alva, OK, and graciously adopted her young daughter, Crystal. Their son, Burr, was born in April 1977. Sadly, their marriage ended in divorce in May 1990.

During Miles' career, he loyally worked for John Deere (Long's/P&K/Northern) as a very talented mechanic. Miles had a sharp mind for tractors and tools and enjoyed tinkering at home on his own farm equipment long after his retirement.

Miles was a very charming man and found love again with Cathryn VanBrunt (VanHoesen). They married in September 2004 in Garber, OK, and through this union, he gained stepdaughters, Julie Stephens & Beth Kitterman. Miles and Cathryn remained married until her death in January 2021.

Miles was an imperfect, stubborn man, determined to live his life as he wanted, but he was a good, good man. He had a special knack for remembering important dates and was quick to mail a card or make a phone call to acknowledge birthdays & anniversaries. He enjoyed visiting with others about the latest politics & weather reports, listening to John Hagee programs, drinking Keystone Light Beer, sheltering feral cats, and had a particular fondness for his daughter-in-law's cooking.  Miles exemplified great humility by admitting his wrongs, seeking forgiveness from his children, and attempting to make amends for regretful decisions he made in life. He will be greatly missed until we are eternally reunited.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, three brothers, his wife Cathryn, and stepdaughter Beth.

Miles leaves behind his daughter, Crystal Penrod (Travis) of Kenai, AK; son, Burr Maly (Jaime) of Elk, WA; stepdaughter, Julie Stephens (Shannon) of Jacksonville, FL; grandsons Tanner Penrod, Cole, Reid & Camden Maly; brother, George Maly (Roberta) of Nowata, OK; sister-in-law, Deloris Maly of Breckenridge, OK; nieces and nephews.

A special thank you to Deloris Maly, and Miles' niece, Deanna Carson, for their assistance during Miles' last days. We are forever grateful.

Funeral services will be 11:00am Saturday, December 17, 2022 in the Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Gary Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Paradise Cemetery. Viewing is 8-8:00pm Friday with the family present 3:00-5:00pm. Viewing is also available Saturday, 8:00am until service time at the funeral home. A reception is then slated for 1:00pm at Garber Christian Church. Services are under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.

Memorial donations can be given to the Bedouin Bible Project c/o Uncharted Ministries through the funeral home.
