June 10, 1936 - May 19, 2020

A Celebration of Life for Bobby E. (Bucket) Thornton, age 83, of Enid, is 2:00 pm, Saturday, May 23, 2020, at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Mary Ellis (sister) officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery at 12:00 pm, Tuesday, May 26th. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Bobby was born June 10, 1936, in Kingfisher, OK, to Lewis "Orly" and Lora Lee (Davis) Thornton, and passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2020, in Oklahoma City.

Bobby graduated from Pampa High in Pampa, Texas, with the class of 1954, then attended West Texas State College in Canyon, Texas, and participated in ROTC. After college, he worked in the oilfield, eventually starting his own business, Big Buckets Rathole Drilling which he operated for 45 years until his death.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and son Daryl Lynn Thornton.

He is survived by his love of 25 years, Linda Maupin, of Enid; two sons, Chris Thornton and wife Jeanne, of Hickman, NE; Greg Thornton of McKinney, TX; two step-sons, Larry Rice and wife Jessica, of Enid; Terry Rice and wife Lynette, of Ringwood, OK; step-daughter, Shelli Maupin, of Enid; and step-son, Scott Maupin, of Tampa, FL. He is also survived by many grandchildren, Braden and Caroline Thornton; Jessica Thornton; Emily and Dan Bontrager; Alyssa and Ben Weber; Taylor Thornton; Shayni Rice; Paxton and Rowan Rice; Evan and Blake Maupin; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Bill Thornton and wife Glenda; two sisters, DeAnne Trolllinger and husband Larry; and Mary Ellis and husband Lyndle.

There will be a BBQ reception at the Elks Club following the service, Saturday, May 23rd. Please come casual as that is what Bucket would prefer.
