Funeral service for Donald A. Thieme, 92, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at Central Christian Church, with the Rev. Don Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, with arrangements by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home. Visitation with the family is 5:30-7 p.m. today, May 12, at the funeral home.
Donald was born to Oswald and Frieda (Naumann) Thieme on Dec. 13, 1922, in Burrton, Kan., and passed away Sunday, May 10, 2015, in Enid, Okla.
Donald graduated from Burlington High School. He attended Northwestern University in Alva and then graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in geology. Don then earned his master’s degree from Phillips University.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
On June 4, 1955, Don married Annabell Kuhnemund in Enid, where they made their home. He worked for Phillips Oil, Atomic Energy Commission and then taught at Hennessey High School and Enid High School for over 20 years.
After Annabell’s death, Donald married Corinne Cormier of California.
Donald was a member of Enid Briggs Lions Club, a 32nd Degree Mason and recently involved in Don Blanding Poetry Club. He was a volunteer at Midgley Museum and a very active member of Central Christian Church, where he served as deacon for many years.
Donald is survived by daughter, Dr. Robyn Thieme-Sklar of Dallas; son, Ronald Douglass Thieme of Billings; two grandchildren, Rachael and Ryan Sklar of Dallas; brother, James Thieme of Dallas; sister, Rita Diel of Newkirk; and wife Corinne of California.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Annabell; daughter, Roxan; two brothers, Fritz and Edwin.
Memorials may be made to Central Christian Church.
