Doris Mae Swanson died on June 29, 2019. She was born to the late Thomas G. Laughlin and Geneveve Mae Holcomb on July 14, 1926, in Enid, Oklahoma, where she grew up an only child. She married Donald J. Swanson, who was stationed at Vance Air Force Base in Enid, and had two children, Roxanne and Mike. They raised their children in Woodward, Oklahoma, where she worked for the public schools for 20 years before becoming office supervisor of The Federal Land Bank after completing her degree in accounting.
After her retirement and the passing of her husband, she moved to Norman, then Moore, to be close to her children and grandchildren. She described the move as, “the best 18 years of my life!” She treasured being part of the everyday life of her family and never missing any family gatherings. She immersed herself in the OKC area art culture and pursued her passion for art which included her paintings in a gallery in the Paseo district. Her life was further enriched by her church family at First Christian Church of Norman. She so loved her Disciple group and her Christian Women Fellowship ladies.
Her life was an example of the blessings and happiness that can be experienced when your strongest relationship is with God, and you serve Him with all your heart.
Doris is survived by her daughter. Roxanne Noles and husband Tom; son, Mike Swanson and wife Sherry; grandchildren, Tommy Noles and wife Haley, Chad Swanson and wife Charlet, Sarah Eads and husband Daylon, Lindsay Guier and husband Jarod; and great grandchildren, Sunny and Paisley Noles, Parker and Emma Eads, Shawn, Reese and Brandt Guier.
Visitation will be held from 1:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at Havenbrook Funeral Home in Norman. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, July 3, 2019, at First Christian Church, 220 S. Webster Avenue in Norman. A private committal will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery in Enid, OK.
As a nod to Doris' artistic nature, feel free to wear bright, colorful attire when attending her services.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to First Christian Church of Norman.

Services for Donald Swanson were held Friday, April 10, 1993 at Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau Evans Funeral Home.
Donald Junior Swanson was born November 7, 1928 in Leola McPher, South Dakota and passed from this life on April 5, 1993 in Enid Oklahoma.
He served in the U. S. Air Force from December 10, 1947 until his release on December 9, 1951. He married Doris Mae Holcomb in Enid Oklahoma. They had two children Roxanne and Mike.
