ENID — Funeral service for Luella M. "Susie" Stoner, 94, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at First United Methodist Church. Dr. Grayson Lucky will officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home. The casket will not be open at the church.
Susie died Tuesday, April 3, 2012, surrounded by family. Born the youngest of eight children, to Arthur Cole and Emma Morrow Liming, at their home in Hillsdale , Okla., on Sept. 20, 1917.
She graduated from Hillsdale High School with the class of 1935. She received her teaching certificate from Northwestern College and began teaching at a country school.
On Dec. 24, 1938, she married Eugene Stoner at her parents' home in Hillsdale . They had two children, Barbara Sue and Stanley Ray. They were married 60 years before Eugene died in February 1998.
She was a wonderful homemaker, wife, mother, and Grammy. She was active in the childrens' school activities, PTA, Mothers Club. She loved sewing and needlepoint, was an excellent cook, enjoyed playing bridge and gardening.
She was an active member of First United Methodist Church and Friendship Sunday school class. She loved to travel, going on cruises to Cancun and Hawaii. She had a great sense of humor and loved OU football.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene; her parents; and seven siblings, Mary Mauk, Mildred Hoffsommer, Tommy Liming, Mabel Raikes, Stanley Liming, Arthur Liming, and Harold Liming.
She is survived by daughter, Barbara Peterman and husband Buzz of Fairview, Texas; son, Stanley Stoner and wife Bobbie of Enid, Okla.; three grandsons, Chuck Peterman and wife Sol, Dallas, TX., Jonathan Stoner and wife Angie, Fayetteville, Ark., and Jordan Stoner, San Francisco, Calif.; two great-grandchildren, Paige Peterman, Lubbock, Texas, and Christopher Peterman, Dallas, Texas; sister-in-law, Mildred Dowers Matussak, Enid; nephews, Junior Mauk, Bill Mauk, James Hoffsommer and Gregg Liming; niece, Kay Liming Oliver; and many loving great-nieces and great-nephews.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to First United Methodist Church or Hospice Circle of Love.
