A graveside service for Norma Lee Stevens, 80, will be 10 a.m. today, April 4, 2007 at Memorial Park Garden Chapel with Pastor Michael Frisbie and Todd Stevens officiating. Arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home. Family and friends will meet at 9:30 a.m. today at the funeral home before proceeding to the cemetery.
She was born to John and Thelma (Martin) Cherry on Aug. 12, 1926 in Garnett, KS and died Monday, April 2, 2007 at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Enid.
Norma grew up in Welda, KS and graduated from Welda High School. She then attended Emporia Teachers College for two years. She taught elementary school in a country school in Kansas for a few years.
On Dec. 21, 1946, she married Loal Stevens in Anthony, KS and they made their home in Waynoka. After retirement, they moved to Enid in the mid 1980s. For several years, she worked at First Baptist Church preparing meals.
She is survived by her children, Jerry Stevens and wife Jolene of Broken Arrow, Randy Stevens and wife Linda of Stillwater, Craig Stevens and wife Sherri of LaCrosse, KS, Cathy Cannon and husband Ed of Enid; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and sister, Shirley Welsh of Rochester, MN.
Norma was preceded in death by her husband Loal in 1999; three sisters, Martha Anderson, Geraldine Brewer and Janet Carr; and brother, Clayton Cherry.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to O.M.R.F., kidney division.
