Graveside memorial service for Lola Jeanne Stevens, 87, will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 28, 2015, at Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel, with Dr. H. Lynn Stevens officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park with arrangements by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.
Our dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother went to live with our Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 12, 2015, in McKinney, Texas.
Lola was born to Doris Williamson on Feb. 3, 1928, in Medford County. She lived with her mother and her grandfather, Cline Umbarger, until she was four, when her mother met and married Harry Wilford Whiting. The family eventually moved to and farmed in the Lamont, Okla., area.
At 17, she married Everett Marion Stevens, the love of her life, in Enid, Okla., on April 13, 1945.
Lola had a beautiful voice and sang at numerous affairs and gathering. Her hobbies were crafting, cooking and spending time with her son, grandchildren and her precious nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Everett; brother, Richard Whiting; and nephew, Terry Whiting.
Lola is survived by one son, Dr. H. Lynn Stevens of Mesquite, Texas; two grandchildren, Clayton Stevens of Allen, Texas, and Kylee Pedrosa of Hoover, Ala.; sister, Donna Hickerson of Enid; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made through the funeral home to Juvenile Diabetes Association.
While we miss and love you so very much Mom, we take solace that you are now walking with Jesus in the gardens of Heaven.
