The funeral for Ruby June Lawrence Splane, 81, of Lahoma, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008, at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Campbell officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 6-7:30 p.m. Monday at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.
Ruby was born to Frank Howard and Clara Anne (Gregart) Lawrence on Oct. 19, 1926, in Loreto, Boone County, NE and passed from this life Friday, Sept. 5, 2008, at her home in Lahoma. Her daughters and family were with her as she quietly departed this life.
Ruby retired in 1985 from Enid State School after 26 years of dedicated service to the Department of Human Services and the citizens of Oklahoma, showing loving concern and quality care to all who came in contact with her. Ruby was an active member and supporter of Lahoma Baptist Church. She was an avid gardener and spent many peaceful hours in her garden, which always brought joy to those who visited. She also liked quilting and fishing. Ruby could be found in the kitchen baking rolls and cookies for her grandchildren and was a bright spot in their lives. She was a quiet person with a passion for life and her family. We will greatly miss her smile and steady hand. May the Lord bless and keep her in the palm of His hand.
She is survived by three children, Judy Ann Myrick and husband Tex of Enid, Charles Eugene Splane of Enid, and Ruby Lynn Smith-Maldonado and husband Arnold of Lahoma; one sister Margaret B.J. Lawrence Knott of Ames, IA; two brothers, Lester Lawrence of Hawthorne, NV, and Melvin R. Lawrence of Littlefield, AZ; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and five great, great-grandchildren.
Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Robert Splane; daughter, Nancy June Whitten; daughter-in-law, Sharon Splane; grandson, Gregory Hitchcock; and 10 brothers and sisters.
