A Celebration of Life for Susan Ilene Smith, 67, Covington, is 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, 2016, at the Douglas Christian Union Church, with the Rev. Robert Stewart officiating. Interment follows in Memorial Park Cemetery, Enid. The family will receive friends 6-7 p.m. Thursday. Sept. 8, 2016, at the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home, Enid.
She was born July 25, 1949, in Enid, the daughter of Lloyd and Trudy Swiggart Gragert, and passed away Monday, Sept. 5, 2016. Susan was a 1967 graduate of the Covington-Douglas High School, and then attended NOC at Tonkawa. She was united in marriage to Joe Smith Sr. on April 26, 1969, in Douglas. Susan was employed by the George E. Failings Company, then later worked for the Yost Law Offices as a legal secretary in Perry. She was a member of the Douglas Christian Union Church. She enjoyed watching NASCAR, needlework, caring for flowers and spending time with her family. She will be remembered as one who always had positive attitude and a smile on her face, even when she didn't feel well.
Survivors include her husband, Joe; two sons, Joe Smith Jr. and his wife, Christe, of Lucien; Kevin Smith and his wife, Machelle, of Lake Mills, Wis.; five grandchildren, Cole, Houston, Gabe, Gracyn and Gibson; a sister, Nancy Nelson, of Douglas; and her parents, Lloyd and Trudy Gragert.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Jett Smith; and a sister, Pamela Loesch; and her husband Stanley.
Memorial contributions may be made to OMRF, asthma division, with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home as custodian of the funds. Online condolences may be left and viewing of the service at www.LadusauEvans.com.
