The funeral service for Marion L Smith, age 78, will be held Thursday, July 29, 2010 at 10:00 am at the Emmanuel Baptist Church. Rev Ted Kuschel will officiate. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 6 pm to 7:30 pm.
Marion was born April 3, 1932 in Meno, OK to Henry J and Myrtle (Eck) Smith and died Sunday, July 25, 2010 in Enid. He grew up on a farm north of Meno. He was a graduate of the Oklahoma Bible Academy in 1951. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior at an early age.
He married Dorothy A Wahl on February 1, 1955 in Fairview, OK. They lived in Denver, CO for 22 years, then moved to Enid where he worked at Failings and later on owned his own lawn service. He also worked at the Enid News & Eagle Circulation Department. He served in the Army from 1952-1954. He was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church for 25 years and served as a deacon. He was also a member of the American Legion for 50 years.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, children: Tim Smith of Colorado Springs, CO; Shirley George and husband Eldon of Enid, OK, Jerry Smith of Colorado Springs, CO, Don Smith and wife LeaAnne of Enid, OK, David Smith and wife Mistie of Enid, OK; 6 grandchildren; six sisters, Gladys Koehn, Beatrice Schmidt, Geralene Buller, Margie Welch, Peggy Smith and Lucinda Sissons; three brothers, George Smith, Roger Smith and Delton Smith.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Harry Smith and Willis Smith.
