The funeral service for Katherine Smith, 96, Enid, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, in the Brown-Cummings Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.
She was born Sept. 10, 1916, in Enid to Francis and Blanche Geist Lindsey and died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013 at Golden Oaks. She grew up in Enid, graduating from Enid High School in 1935. On May 10, 1939, she married Oval Smith in Enid. She was co-owner and operator, with her husband, of Smith Transmission, from 1949 to 2002. She was a longtime member of the Bethany United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two sons, Delbert Joe and wife Sandra Smith of Enid, and Harold Max and wife Jill Smith of Madisonville, Tenn.; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Oval, in 2004; and her brother, Everett Lindsey.
