A mass of Christian burial for George Moe Smith, 95, of Enid, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008, at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church. The Rev. Larry Kowalski will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home. He was born Sept. 28, 1913, in Cripple Creek, Colo., to Edward B. "E.B." and Gertrude Golestein Smith and died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2008, at The Commons.

He graduated from Sapulpa High School in 1931, then attended the University of Oklahoma's School of Business Administration, graduating with a bachelor of science degree in 1935. He was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He moved to Minneapolis in 1935, and began a 40-year career as an accountant and later became manager for Northern States Power Co.

He married Frances Ada Dickinson Nov. 25, 1937, in Minneapolis. They made their home in Galena, Ill., returning to Minneapolis in 1941. He retired in 1975 and they moved to Enid. She died in 1994. He was a member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church.

Surviving are one daughter, Sally Anne Smith of McLean, Va.; one son, Edward Bruce Smith of Enid; and one granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances.
