A Private Family Celebration of Life Service for Burney A. Smither age 101 will be Thursday morning at Ladusau-Evans Chapel with Rev. Gary Millier officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. "Out of love and safety for the health of our family and friends, the Burney Smither family will save our visitation, hugs, and personal greetings until a later date. Thank you for your prayers."
Burney was born July 21, 1918 in Mulberry, Arkansas to Alexander and Elizabeth (Thomas) Smither and passed away at his home on April 19, 2020. He was raised in Arkansas. He married Virginia M. Lyons on February 13, 1938 in Lubbock, TX and she passed away January 24, 1995. He worked for Pepsi Cola, Toms Peanuts and later opened Auto and Truck Supply, Inc and sold it in 1993. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Enid.
Burney is survived by his daughter Brenda Smither of Enid, grandchildren; Richard (Denise) Henneke, Matthew Henneke, and Catte Caviness, great grandchildren; Kristin, Dylan, Jayten, and Zoe and other family members.
He was preceded in death by his wife, daughter, Linda McGee, grandson Zachary Caviness, brother Davis, and sister Frankie.
