A Celebration of Life Service for Dr. Bill G. Sloat age 69 of Enid will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 9, 2016, at the Emmanuel Baptist Church with the Revs. Wade Burleson and Dallas Caldwell officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Bill was born January 9, 1947, in Coweta, OK to Ezra Paul and Beatrice Evelyn Turnbow Sloat and passed away Thursday, May 05, 2016, at Integris Bass Baptist Hospital. Bill graduated from Coweta High School in May 1965.
He attended and graduated from Northeastern Oklahoma State University with a Master’s degree in Education in 1967. He married Deborah Fine on June 21, 1969, in Coweta, OK. Bill taught math at Vian, OK for six years. Later, he graduated from the University of Houston with a Doctorate degree in Optometry in 1982. Bill started his practice in Marshall, TX and moved to Enid in 1983, opening his practice. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.
Bill is survived by his wife Debbie; two sons: Adam and wife Mary Sloat of Enid; David and wife Christy Sloat of Calvin, OK; grandchildren Shelby, Kember, and Kallee Sloat; two sisters: Karen and husband Darrell McCaslin of Mounds, OK; Kathy Sloat of Broken Arrow, OK; aunts Thelma and husband Ed Greene of Coweta, OK; and Pauline Hogan of Leonard, OK; uncle Ulysses and wife Bernadine Turnbow of Coweta, OK; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Brian, Donald and Bruce.
Memorials may be made to Autism Foundation with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodians of the funds.
