A Celebration of Life for Don Sloan, 85, Enid, is 3:30 p.m. Friday, March 10, 2017, at the Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum. Cremation was under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
He was born in a log cabin Feb. 23, 1932, near Hennessey, the son of Louis and Doris (Lee) Sloan, and passed away March 7, 2017. He was a graduate of Enid High School in 1952, where he participated in football and track. Don was a veteran of the Korean conflict, serving in the United States Army. He was united in marriage to Edith Hirst on Nov. 12, 1954, in Enid. Don retired from the Enid Board of Trade as a lab technician, then continued work at Phillips University. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Don will be remembered for all of his funny stories.
Survivors include Edith, his wife of 62 years, two grandchildren Michael Crawford and Audra Lunceford, two brothers, Jerry Sloan and his wife Janice of Edmond, and Terry Sloan and wife Julie of Meno, two sisters, Judy Sloan of Enid and Cindy Mootz of Enid, and good friend, Edward LeRoy Barnes.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Detra Edwards, and three sisters, Faye, Della and Wanda.
