The funeral for Morris "Duane" Simpson, 73, of Enid, will be 9 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008, at Central Christian Church. The Rev. Don Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. He was born Aug. 8, 1935, in Enid to Charles and Della Pennisten Simpson and died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2008, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center.
He married Mary Grace Crites June 28, 1958, in Enid. He was a member of the Enid Round Up Club, American Bowling Association, Enid Bowling Association, of which he was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1997. He was an original faculty member of Autry Technology Center. He retired after 26 years as a welding instructor, later operating Simpson Welding. He also was a little league baseball coach.
Surviving are his wife, Mary, of the home; two sons, Tim Simpson and Alan Simpson; one sister, Ramah Harper of Decatur, Ga.; two brothers, Bud Simpson of Breckinridge and Richard Simpson of Hillsdale; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister.
