Funeral services for Leonard Charles Simmering will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2008, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Garber with Pastor Joseph Myers officiating. There will be a family visitation at the funeral home today, Sept. 13, 2008, from 5 - 6 p.m. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home. Leonard Charles Simmering, 85, a native of Oklahoma and current resident of Prattville, Ala. died peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 7, 2008, in Prattville.

Mr. Simmering proudly served his country during World War II as a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was also a graduate of Oklahoma University followed by a 35-year professional career as an engineer.

He was preceded in death by one daughter and son-in-law, Kay and John Moorman, and one grandson, Sean Moorman.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Doris Simmering; one daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Kevin O'Meara; and two grandchildren, Sarah O'Meara and Ryan O'Meara; and loving nieces and nephews
