Dr. Patrick SHANKS

PATRICK SHANKS, 73, a doctor of obstetrics and gynecology, died Oct. 24, 1995, in his Colorado Springs home.

Friends may call today at 11 a.m. at Blunt Mortuary, 2229 W. Colorado Ave. A service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church in Enid, Okla. Burial will be at Memorial Park in Enid. Blunt Mortuary and Henninger-Allen Funeral Home, 601 W. Broadway in Enid, are handling arrangements.

Dr. Shanks had been a Colorado Springs resident since 1991. He had also lived in Enid for 40 years. After graduating from the University of Oklahoma with a bachelor of science degree, Dr. Shanks entered the University of Oklahoma School of Medicine in 1943.

He served in the Navy from 1947 to 1950 and achieved the rank of lieutenant, junior grade. He was a recipient of the Victory Medal.

Dr. Shanks was a lifetime member of the Garfield County (Oklahoma) Medical Association, the Oklahoma Medical Association, a Fellow in the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and a Diplomate in Obstetrics and Gynecology. He was also a 32nd-degree Mason of the Guthrie (Okla.) Consistory and a Shriner of the Al Kaly order in Pueblo.

Dr. Shanks was married Jan. 14, 1952, in Purcell, Okla., to Patsy Ruth Shupe, who survives. He is also survived by three daughters, Nancy Ashwood of Fort Smith, Ark.; Jennifer Ritcher of Golden; and Amy Mitchell of Cache, Okla. He is also survived by three grandchildren.
