ENID — Funeral service for Vernita Mae Secor, 92-year-old Enid resident, will be 2 p.m. today, Jan. 23, 2012, at Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Susan Southall will officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery .
Vernita was born July 14, 1919, in Isabella , Okla., to Ruben and Leah (Lauback) Lorenz and died Friday, Jan. 20, 2012, at Greenbrier Nursing Home.
She graduated from Okeene High School.
On May 14, 1938, she married Henry "Hank" Secor in Enid. The couple made their home on a farm south of Drummond.
Vernita worked as a hairdresser in Drummond for over 40 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She also was a member of PHI Sigma Alpha Enid ETA Chapter.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandy Landwehr and husband Truman of Enid; two grandchildren, Tracie Chowning and Amy Thomas; as well as seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hank in 1987; grandson, Bart Helterbrand; one sister and two brothers.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorials be made through the funeral home to the charity of donor's choice.
