Venita M. Scheller, 87, passed away Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

She was born Sept. 23, 1924, at her grandparent’s home near Watonga, Okla., to Roy and Opal Harris Masters. She married Howard Scheller Dec. 23, 1944, in Enid, Okla. He passed away March 17, 2004. Venita was a homemaker, as well as, an avid golfer and president of the Women’s Golf Association for three years. Rheumatoid arthritis stopped her golfing activities and she and her husband took up fishing for many years. She was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She has been an active volunteer and Bridge player at the Enid Senior Center since 1997. She was president of the board of directors for three years and volunteer coordinator for 16 months. She is survived by her son, Richard Scheller and wife Marilynn of Collinsville, Okla.; daughter, Linda Frank of Enid, Okla.; grandchildren, Jennifer Martinez of Poway, Calif., Nicholas Frank of Enid, Okla., Nicholas Williams of Collinsville, Okla.; great-grandson, Jacob Martinez of Poway, Calif.; brother, William Masters of Neosho, Mo.; sister, Marilyn Fox of Tampa, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Howard; and brother, Glen Masters.

A private family burial will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, in Memorial Park Cemetery.

The casket will be open until 1 p.m. A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Rev. Scott Whittenburg and Rev. Kenneth Wade will officiate.
