ENID, Okla. - Celebration of Life service for Bob ?Sarge? Savage, 82, of Enid, will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, at Willow Road Christian Church, with Rev. Carrell Still officiating. Family will receive friends 5:30-7 p.m. Friday at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home. Private family burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by Fort Sill Honor Guard. Honoring Sarge's request, cremation has taken place.
Bob was born Sept. 26, 1930, in Puxico, Mo., to Howard and Rosa Snow Savage and died Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, in Enid.
He moved with his family to El Reno, where he grew up.
Bob enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving in the Korean War and later retired from the U.S. Army.
He married Janell McGinnis in 1952, and made their home in El Reno, Okla., Spokane, Wash., El Paso, Texas, and Enid, Okla. Bob worked as a driver for Groendyke until his retirement.
Bob attended Willow Road Christian Church. He played golf and worked at Turkey Creek Golf Course for 10 years. Bob loved his grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, two brothers and a daughter, Cathy.
He is survived by his wife, Janell of the home; sister-in-law, Marjie Lobit of Guymon, Okla.; two sons and their wives, James and Wendy Savage of Tulsa, and Larry and Lori Coonrod of Enid; brother, Howard Savage of El Reno; five grandchildren, Sara Faye and Jon Kriek of Dallas, Jennifer Marie and Justin Cook of South Carolina, Jamie Maye and Billy Hulsey of Pottsboro, Texas, Candace and Cooper Coonrod, both of Enid; two great-grandchildren, Dallas and Jeb; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Willow Road Christian Church.
