Dorothy June Gritz Steele was born on June 15, 1931, in Hennessey, Oklahoma and departed this life on Friday, November 25, 2016, in Meeker, Oklahoma, at the age of 85.
Dorothy, the daughter of Frank W. and Eva Ricks Gritz, was a resident of Meeker.
She grew up and attended school in Hennessey, Oklahoma.
Dorothy later attended cosmetology school.
She married John P. Steele in August 1949 in Hennessey.
Dorothy enjoyed crossword puzzles, gardening, cooking, playing the piano and reading.
Dorothy's parents, husband, son, John 'Danny' Daniel Steele, brothers, Clarence, Gene and Raymond and sisters Letha, Fay and Gladys preceded her in death.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Pam and Greg Vernon of Conifer, Colorado, Eileen and John Howell of Meeker, brother, Bill Gritz of Hennessey, ten grandchildren Megan Vernon, John Boggs and wife Megan, Heather Moery and husband Cody, Lacy Howell, Sara Howell, John Hickey, Brent Steele, Cameo Steele, Mark Boggs and Jeremy Boggs, three 3 great grandchildren, Mikaela Boggs, Grady Moery and Erick Howell and many other family and friends.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery in Enid with Rev. Tim Knopps officiating.
Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
