Oletta Smith
December 8, 1946 - January 10, 2025
Oletta Smith was born on December 8, 1946, in Carnegie, OK and went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, January 10, 2025. A celebration of her life will be held at the Emmanuel Enid Church, Enid, Oklahoma, on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Wade Burleson officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday evening, January 13, 2025, from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Anderson-Burris funeral home in Enid, Oklahoma.
Oletta grew up primarily in southeastern Oklahoma along with her ten brothers and sisters. She attended Hanna High School, where Gary caught Oletta's eye at a high school basketball game, and they began dating. They were married soon after on January 29, 1966. For the next few years, Gary and Oletta moved to Ames and Dustin before settling in Enid in 1971, which was one of the best decisions they made.
While raising their children, Oletta worked many jobs where she made close friends along the way. In 1999, Gary and Oletta started Smith Real Estate company. They had a successful business, working together, until deciding to sell the business in 2018 to spend more time with family and to travel.
Oletta's life was devoted to her faith and family. In her free time, if she wasn't spending time with her grandchildren, she was probably with her siblings. To say they were a close family is an understatement! Her love for her family was paramount in her life and she was always there to help any family member at any time. She was a cherished grandma, and she was the life of the party at any occasion. Oletta had a generous spirit and a giving heart that will be dearly missed. Oletta was also a long-time member of Emmanuel Enid Church and developed many friendships through the years. She was able to travel with her friends from church to China, Greece, Turkey, Israel, Guatemala, and Alaska among other places.
Oletta was preceded in death by her parents, Wilford and Margaret Moore and her siblings Onema Greenlee, Orville Moore, and Odell Moore.
Oletta will be greatly missed by all those that loved her. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Gary Smith; children Lori (Terry Johnson), Randy (Stephanie Milacek); and five grandchildren, Nicole, Jessica, Seve, Kira and Sela; siblings Opal Chanslor, Onetta (Lonnie) Broomfield, Oma (Gene) Cottom, Olena (Doug) Liese, Olen (Hillary) Moore, Otis (Joan) Moore and Ollie Moore and many extended family members including cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made through Anderson-Burris to Emmanual Enid Church or to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
