The graveside service for Daniel Lee Smith, 88 year-old Enid resident is 2:00PM Tuesday, December 3, 2024 in the Memorial Park Garden Chapel under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home. Rev. Gail Edmison will officiate.
Daniel (D.L.) was born October 8, 1936 to Leonard and Hazell (Long) Smith at Enid general hospital and passed away on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at Enid Senior Care. The family lived east of Enid where he started school in 1942, moving northeast of Enid in 1945 and entering Enterpise School where he graduated from the eighth grade. He then went two years to Kremlin High School before moving to Marshall in 1954. He then attended two years at Northern Oklahoma Junior College at Tonkawa graduating in 1956.
D.L. joined the Oklahoma National Guard in 1959 until 1965. The family moved back Northeast of Enid in 1974 where he went to work for Gateway Truckstop form 1977 until retiring in 2002.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hazel and Leonard Smith, sister Gerdine Dean Shepard and husband Bob, brother Max Smith and wife Bobbie, brother Rex and wife Corina Smith, sister Mary Lou Pool and husband Clarence, and one niece.
He is survived by several nieces, and nephews. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made through Henninger-Hinson to the American Cancer Society or OMRF (Alzheimer's Division).
