Hugh Breese Simmons
October 2, 1937 - January 12, 2012

The funeral for Hugh Breese Simmons Jr., 74-year-old Enid resident, will be 10 a.m. Monday, January 16, 2012, in Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home Chapel. Friends should feel free to wear casual attire in Hugh's favorite colors ... red and white. James Cravens will officiate. A private family burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Hugh went to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday, January 12, 2012, at his home with his children under the care of Hospice Circle of Love. He was born to the late Hugh Breese Simmons Sr. and Monta Florence (Embree) Simmons in Alexandria, Indiana. He attended Enid High School before joining the Navy in 1955. After being honorably discharged he settled in Enid where he was a jack of all trades.

In 1991, Hugh moved in with his daughter and her family. He enjoyed traveling with them to England, Las Vegas and Colorado. He attended Enid High School before joining the Navy in 1955. After being honorably discharged he settled in Enid where he was a jack of all trades.

Hugh's great joy in life was making people laugh through his jokes and storytelling. He lit up everyone with laughter. He loved spending time with his grandkids and joked about being their personal taxi-cab. Hugh could often be found watching ESPN with his dog Dakota by his side. He never missed an OU football game or a St. Louis Cardinals baseball game.

Hugh is survived by one sister, Nellie LaPlant, of Scott City, Kansas, and many children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was loved by all that knew him.

The family wishes to thank the Lord for surrounding them with all the friends and caregivers that embraced Hugh and his children with their love and support during their time of need. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.enidwecare.com. (Submitted by family)
