March 27, 1944 - September 16, 2023

Funeral service for Roy Sanders, 79 of Enid, will be Thursday, September 21, 2023 at 10:30 am in St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Pastors David Reber and Kenneth Wade officiating. Inurnment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory.

Roy was born March 27, 1944 in Enid, Oklahoma to James Edward and Jimmie Lee (Sprouse) Sanders and passed away September 16, 2023 in Enid.

He graduated from Kremlin High School and attended Phillips University. Roy served his county in the U.S. Air Force, serving in the Vietnam War. He was a member of 552nd Airborn, early warning radar and air defense command. On May 13, 1967, he married Shirley Wuerflein, in St. Paul's Lutheran Church. They were stationed several places in the Airforce, but ultimately made their home in Enid. He and Shirley were also avid travelers and enjoyed many cruises. His favorite trips were to Alaska and Canada. Roy worked in the oil industry with Western Company and several others. He later was a saleman at Northcutt Chevrolet. Roy enjoyed coaching little league teams. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sandra Crawford; brother, Donald Sanders; and in-laws, John and Lee Wuerflein.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; son, Lonnie and wife, Carrie Sanders and their daughter, Kamy Sanders; son, Todd and wife, Tricia Sanders, and children, Avery Sanders, Joshua and wife, Majesta Sanders and their children, Brielle and Braxtyn; sister, Peggy Tipton; other relatives and friends.

Memorials may be made through Anderson-Burris to Zudhi Transplant Institute. Condolences may be made online www.andersonburris.com.
