ENID, OK — Funeral service for Frederick Charles Rupp Jr., 85, will be 2 p.m. Monday, March 31, 2014, at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Lesly Broadbent officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.

Frederick was born April 29, 1928, in Staten Island, N.Y., to Frederick “Charley” and Dorothy (Anderson) Rupp and died on Friday, March 28, 2014, in Enid, Okla.

Fred grew up in Staten Island. He entered the U.S. Air Force, and was stationed in Denver, Colo.

After his discharge, he began his career with Dowell, Division of Dow Chemical. While working with Dowell, he lived in Hays, Eureka and El Dorado, Kan.

On Oct. 31, 1963, Fred married Beverly Norris Peterson. They made their home in Pauls Valley and Hominy, Okla.

He took an early retirement after 28 years with Dowell. They moved to Enid, where Fred began another career with Cardinal Chemical, later becoming Dresser Titan and BJ Chemical Co.

After his second retirement, he began his 10 years with Sears. Fred also enjoyed working with his wife for Turner Tours as an escort on tours.

Fred and Beverly recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. He was a member of Willow View United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Charlotte.

Fred is survived by his loving wife, Beverly; a daughter and her husband, Stacy and Phillip Fowler of Bartlesville, Okla.; two sons, Douglas Peterson and wife Lynell of Weleetka, Okla., and Charley Rupp of Wichita, Kan.; five grandchildren, Eric Peterson and wife Andrea, Christopher Richardson and wife Cace, Amy Burgireno and husband Sam, Morgan Blackstock and husband Chase, and Chase Fowler; three great-grandchildren, Emily Burgireno, Braxton Peterson and Lucas Burgireno; one sister and her husband, Jessie and Dick Bailey of Pennington, N.J., and their children, Heather and Richard.

Memorials may be made to Willow View United Methodist Church or SPCA.
