The funeral service for Leland R. Rogers, 93 year-old Enid resident will be 10:00AM Monday, July 8, 2019 in the Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Kelly Russell will officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Leland was born November 5, 1925 in Akins, Oklahoma to Denton and Hattie Elizabeth(Smith) Rogers and died Tuesday, July 2, 2019 in the Commons in Enid. After he graduated high school from Sallisaw with the class of 1943, he then enlisted in the United States Navy, serving for two years. He then attended Oklahoma State University. While enrolled at O.S.U. he also worked for the Stillwater Police Department.
On July 26, 1947, he married Georgia Nickens in Stillwater. The couple made their home in Enid. Leland was an auditor with the firm of Atwell-Vogel-Sterling.
He was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Enid.
He is survived by his son Phil and wife Marfa, of San Antonio, Texas, grandchildren, Elaine Elliott, Eric Rogers, Erin Reedy, Edrea Esslinger, Ember Rodriquez, and Ethan Rogers. 8 great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Berta McKenny and Kay Miller.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Georgia in 1978, his brother Shorty Rogers and sister Doris.
Memorials may be made through Henninger-Hinson to the First Baptist Church.
