A Celebration of Life Service for Karen Ann Rogers age 69 of Enid will be held at 2:00 pm Friday at Emmanuel Enid with Rev. Abraham Wright officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
Karen was born May 29, 1949 in Ft. Worth, TX to Dr. Marney C. and Katherine (Tinsley) Isbell and passed away Thursday, December 20, 2018 at her home. She grew up in the Ft. Worth area. At age 10, she made her commitment of faith at Riverside Baptist Church, where she was an active member through adulthood before moving out of state.
Karen attended Amon Carter Riverside HS, the University of Texas at Arlington and graduated from the John Peter Smith Hospital School of Nursing in 1971. On May 2, 1981, she married Dr. Gilbert Bert Rogers in Ft. Worth. After medical residency stints in Trinidad, CO, and Arlington, TX, they moved to Enid in 1987. Karen worked in the E.R. at Integris Bass Hospital and also maintained her real estate broker and agent license in both Oklahoma and Texas. Karen enjoyed antiques, cooking, gardening, traveling, hiking and snow skiing. She was known for being the Hostess with the Mosttess. Karen loved going to Las Vegas for the slot machines and crab leg buffets. She was a lover of all animals, but held a special fondness for her dogs.
She is survived by her husband Dr. Bert Rogers of the home, two daughters; Kimberly Ring and husband Darrell and Katherine Roberts and husband Daulton of Enid, son Phillip Rogers and his wife Kathryn of Carrolton, TX, three grandchildren; Dustin, Emma Grace, and Charlie, Uncle Gene Rainwater and many other family and friends.
Karen is preceded in death by her parents, Brother Phillip Isbell, nephew Brian Isbell, and Aunt Georgia Rainwater.
Memorials may be made to the Enid SPCA or Youth & Family Services with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodians of the funds.
