A funeral service for James C. "Jim" Rogers, age 64, will be at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004, at the Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Dennis Treat officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

He was born to James and Mamie Estelle (Burris) Rogers on Jan. 4, 1940, in Mangum, Oklahoma, and went to be with the Lord on Sat., Dec.18, 2004, at Integris Bass Hospital in Enid. Jim grew up in Mangum, graduating from high school there. He then attended Southwestern College in Weatherford, where he was a member of TKE Fraternity, and earned his degree in Music Education. After graduation, his first job was with Altus Schools as Asst. Band Director, and the band performed in the John F. Kennedy Inaugural Parade.

On June 3, 1968, he married Margie Rember in Woodward. He was the band director at Shattuck Schools for over 24 years, producing many award-winning bands. He retired in 1991, and moved to Enid, where he worked for Jensen's Music Store. He was an avid photographer, and enjoyed woodworking and gardening. He was a member of the American Music Association, and combo bands that performed at many events throughout the years.

Papa Jim is survived by his daughter, Jamie Bolton and husband Dave, two granddaughters, Shelby and Kylie all of Mustang; some of his favorite people, Jennie Griffin and Shelly Marino, both of Mustang, Jill Watts, Abbey Watts, and Susan Rice, all of Tulsa, and Marla Devous and Grant, both of Joplin, MO; and long-time companion Marilyn Beeby of Enid.

He was preceded in death by his mother, two grandchildren, and several aunts and uncles.

He loved and enjoyed spoiling his little dog Harley.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, Cancer Division.
