The funeral service for William “Bill” Roberts, 74, will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. The Rev. Alvin Dalton will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
He was born Aug. 12, 1933, in Helena to William and Edith Dixon Roberts and died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008, at his home. He was a graduate of Carrier High School.
He served in the Army 1953-55.
After his discharge, he married Virginia Reese July 9, 1955, in Perry. They lived in Tonkawa for 20 years, and he was a machinist for Williams and Smith. They moved to Guymon, where they owned and operated two motels, Savaii Motel and Roberts Motel. They moved to Childress, Texas, for two years and owned and operated Classic Inn. They then retired and moved to Crescent for 10 years before moving to Waukomis.
Surviving are his wife, Virginia, of the home; one son, Bill Roberts Jr., of Enid; one daughter, June Webb, of Enid; three brothers, Milton Roberts of Carney, Dean Roberts of Perry and Ronnie Roberts of Drummond; one sister, Linda Holt, of Enid; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter.
