The funeral for Preston Mills Roberts, 76, will be 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10, 2015, at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Tommy Donaldson will officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Preston was born Feb. 20, 1939, west of Nash, to Roy and Alberta Roberts and passed away Thursday, Aug. 6, 2015, at his home in Enid.
Preston attended Nash Public Schools for 12 years, then graduated from Northwestern Teachers College with a master’s degree in education.
He married Mary Beth Hane, and sons Dennis and Don were born.
After teaching school in Kiowa, Kan., for six years, they returned to the Waukomis area. In 1973, Preston enrolled in Missouri Auction School. He began a long and enjoyable career in the auction business. Preston sold cattle in Covington for 37 years. He sold tools in 44 different states for his brother-in-law, M.H. Loper. He and various partners sold all types of real estate and personal property. Preston especially enjoyed 4-H and FFA premium sales, calcuttas, and charity auctions.
On August 23, 1981, he married Vicki Gilliland and enjoyed helping raise daughter Tiffany Gilliland.
Preston was preceded in death by parents Roy and Alberta Roberts; infant sister Billie Roberts; half-brother Max Collier; and half-sister Jean Waggoner.
He is survived by wife Vicki; daughter Tiffany; two sons, Dennis Preston Roberts and Donald Leroy Roberts and wife Krista; and three cherished grandchildren, Kelsey Roberts, Maddie and Dylan Vinci.
