The funeral for Sammy R. Roach, 58, of Liberal, Kan., will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, 2008, at First United Methodist Church, Liberal. The Revs. Mike and Robert DeMoss will officiate. A graveside service is 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 15, 2008, in Memorial Park Cemetery, Enid. Arrangements are by Miller Mortuary, Liberal. Visitation will be 8 am. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. He was born July 19, 1950, in Enid to Elmer and Lucille DeLapp Roach and died Monday, Aug. 11, 2008, at Southwest Medical Center, Liberal.

He graduated from Central High School in Tulsa in 1968 and from Phillips University in Enid in 1972, with a degree in political science and psychology. He had a long career in the insurance field in Liberal and was an insurance adjustor for GAB, Crawford & Co. He later owned and operated Jantzen Elder Insurance. He also cared for 14 foster children.

Surviving are two sons, Billy Roach of Liberal, and Shawn Robinson of Pampa, Texas; three daughters, Tasha Coen of Owasso, Thisha Wooldridge of Copan, and Lisa Flanders of Kansas City, Kan.; two brothers, Gene Roach of South Souix City, Iowa, and Calvin Jewell of Ponlsa, Calif.; one sister, Joyce Roach of Eads, Colo.; and four foster grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and a grandson.
