March 24, 1939 - September 22, 2021

The services celebrating and honoring the life of Irma Susan Reading, 82, of Enid, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 28, 2021, in the Bible Baptist Church, with Pastor Chick officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

Irma was born on March 24, 1939, the 8th child of 11, to her parents Lawrence Elmer and Elizabeth Grace Fowler Lauver in Ponca City. She was the first of her siblings to be born in the hospital. Before her birth, 2 siblings died very young of Type 1 Diabetes, and at age 11 she contracted the disease. Diabetes did not keep her down.

Moving to Enid in 1959, she met and married her love, Marvin Leroy Reading, June 15, 1961, in Enid. After the death of her daughter, Elizabeth Grace Reading, she sought solace in Jesus and began attending Bible Baptist Church and has continued to do so for 57 years. She loved serving her LORD through the Church. Deeply devoted to her family, she helped raise many a grandchild and great-grandchild. In 2013, she began serving as a Volunteer for Integris Bass and had invested 8,120 lifetime hours.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan Bennett of Canton; stepchildren, Gary Reading of Enid, David Reading of Enid, Helen Witty of Enid; one sister, Wanda Williams of Ponca City; two brothers, Bill Lauver of Ponca City, Marion Lauver of Hinesville, GA; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was proceeded in death by her husband, Marvin Reading; parents, Lawrence and Grace Lauver; four sisters; three brothers; and daughter Elizabeth Grace Reading.

Condolences and special memories may be shared with the family online at WWW.Brown-Cummings.com.
