Celebration of Life Service for Vergie Ann Pryor, 88, of Enid, will be 10:00 AM, Monday, October 23, 2017 at First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Susan Southall officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, with arrangements by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation for family and friends will be 2:00 to 4:00 Sunday afternoon at the funeral home.
Vergie was born June 7, 1929, in Cherokee, Ok, to Vergil and Ona (Creek) Niles, and passed away on Monday, October 16, 2017, in Enid.
Vergie graduated from Lambert High School in 1947 and married her high school sweetheart, Clyde Pryor that same year. They were together 54 years. Vergie worked most of her life as a medical assistant with physicians in Bucklin, KS, Oklahoma City, and Enid. She loved playing bridge and golf. Vergie was a devoted OU sports and OKC Thunder fan. She often wrote to the coaches and players congratulating them on a well-played game and sometimes offered coaches some unsolicited advice. She received letters in return from many of them. Politics were an important part of Vergies life. She was a lifelong Republican and was a poll worker for many years. Politicians didnt escape her attention either as she wrote them with her advice on many issues. She received many handwritten letters back. Vergie was a very active member in her church and volunteered in many church and community activities.
She was preceded in death by husband, Clyde Pryor; parents, Vergil and Ona Niles.
She is survived by her brother, Herb Niles of Cherokee, OK. Two sons, Louis Pryor, wife Marilyn of Atlanta, GA, and Dan Pryor, wife Marilyn of Oklahoma City, OK; grandkids, Amanda Lyons, Zachary Pryor, Christopher Pryor, Diana Pryor, Kimberly Moore, Justin Roller, Brandon Roller, and David Roller and 10 great grandkids.
