Funeral services for Shirley Ann Powell, age 77, of Waukomis, will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, 2020, at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home with Rev. Vernon Lee officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 16 at the funeral home.

Shirley was born May 13, 1943, in Pendleton, Ore., to William and Bertha (Mason) Mygrant, and passed away on Monday, Oct. 12, 2020, in Enid.

She graduated from Enid High School in 1961. She met the love of her life, Claude Powell, on his birthday and their first date, Oct. 21, 1960, and they were married Dec. 15, 1961, in the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They would have celebrated 59 years of marriage this month. She lived and raised her family and worked at various beauty shops in Enid until 1985, when she and Claude moved to Kansas City, Kan., where they lived for 20 years. While in Kansas City she worked in various beauty shops as well. They came back to Enid in 2004 when Claude retired. She and Claude both enjoyed bowling, and were on leagues in Enid and Kansas City. They loved to travel, going to Las Vegas many times, camping trips and seeing the Colorado mountains.

She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Bertha Mygrant; brother, Billy Mygrant; and aunt Thelma Harmon. She is survived by her husband Claude Powell, of Enid; two children, Claude Powell Jr. and wife Sharon, of Shawnee, Kan.; Kristi Matal and husband Conte, of Enid; three grandchildren, Mitchell, Lucas and Tyler.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Shirley's name may be made to The Enid SPCA or St. Jude Children's Hospital with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
