Graveside service for Mary Lou Pool will be 11:00am Friday, December 18, 2015 in the Garden Chapel of Memorial Park Cemetery. Pastor Steve Williams will officiate. Services are under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home. Mary Lou was born December 30, 1943 in Enid to Leonard and Hazel (Long) Smith and died peacefully at her home December 13, 2015 after a long battle with dementia.
She attended Marshall High School and graduated with the class of 1961.
Mary Lou married Clarence Pool June 7, 1963 in Guthrie, Oklahoma. They lived in Marshall, Oklahoma before moving to Enid in 1968.
Mary Lou worked as a cafeteria cook at Kremlin-Hillsdale Schools for over 10 years, followed by cooking positions at Midway Country Store, Howard Johnson’s Restaurant and in the adult cafeteria at NORCE for another 10 years until her health required her to retire in 2007.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence and brother, Max Smith.
Mary Lou is survived by sons, Clyde and Justin, both of Enid; brothers, D.L. Smith of Enid; Rex (Corrina) Smith of Edmond; and sister, Geraldine (Bob) Shepard of Norman.
The family would like to thank Carter Hospice for their services. Rebecca, you are awesome.
Memorials may be given through the funeral home to OMRF – Alzheimers/Dementia division.
