A Celebration of Life service for Richard A. Poindexter, age 77 years, of Enid, is 10:00 am, Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Jim Edmison will officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Richard was born July 12, 1938 in Covington, Oklahoma to Allen C. Poindexter and Margaret “Maggie” (Billups) Poindexter. He departed from this life Thursday, February 4, 2016 in Enid.
He graduated from Hayward High School in 1957. He served his country in the United States Army stationed in Korea from 1961 to 1963. After returning home from his military service, Richard worked in the plumbing industry and attended O.T. Autry Vo-Tech to become a licensed plumbing contractor.
On October 26, 1968 he married Jane Rabe in Enid.
He is survived by his wife Janey; two brothers, Don Poindexter and Pat, of Crescent, OK; Jim Poindexter and wife Pat, of North Enid; one sister, Betty Hoover and husband Bud, of Enid, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Ella Mae Poindexter; Margaret (Pat) Olmstead and one niece, Tami Bell.
Memorials in Richard’s name may be made to the Salvation Army or John Hagee Ministries with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
