Neva Jo Peck, resident of Ponca City, passed away Monday, Aug. 25, 2008, at home. She was 74. The service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 29, 2008, at First Lutheran Church with Pastor Tom Ramsey officiating. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. in Memorial Park Cemetery, Enid, OK. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory, Ponca City.

Neva was born on May 18, 1934, in Jet, OK to William C. Thompson and Reta P. Vice Thompson. She was raised in Goltry, OK where she graduated high school. In high school Neva was a star basketball player for Goltry High School. On May 2, 1954, Neva Jo married J.V. "Jesse" Peck in Goltry, OK. They made their first home in Enid where Neva worked in several restaurants.

In 1963 they moved to Ponca City. Neva stayed home with her children until they reached schooling age. She was active in Jefferson Elementary and served as president of the P.T.A. Neva worked for Ponca City School food service and the Conoco Cafeteria, retiring in 1985. Neva enjoyed cooking, playing cards, dancing, traveling and visiting with friends and family. She also was active with the First Lutheran Church and their Women's Guild, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary and Friendship Feast. Neva loved people and had never met a stranger. Neva will be greatly missed in the lives of many.

She is survived by her husband, J.V. "Jesse" Peck of the home; two daughters, Vanessa J. Peck and J. Ann Ozbun, both of Ponca City; one son, Van W. Peck of the home; one brother, Wilbur C. Thompson of Enid; two sisters, Rita M Pelfrey and Sonja L. Hyke, both of Enid; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Peggy J. Thompson; sister, E. Viola Carter; brother, John R. "Jack" Thompson; brother, Ira L. Thompson; sister, Eleanor P. Cunningham; and brother, Walter G. Thompson.
