ENID, OK — Funeral service for Sammie Joyce Murray, 75, of Enid, Okla., will be 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, at First Assembly of God Church, with the Revs. Dan Barrick and Jarrod Cloud officiating.
Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 4-5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.
Sammie was born to Horace and Betty (Boaz) Fennell on Oct. 11, 1938, in Lawton, Okla., and passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014, in Enid.
Sammie grew up in southwest Oklahoma and northern Texas, and graduated from Andrews High School.
She moved to Enid and married Sam Barnes. They had three children.
On Dec. 31, 1985, she married Bernard Murray in Enid. They made their home in Woodward, Mooreland, and later in Enid.
Sammie was a member of First Assembly of God Church, where she enjoyed singing. She worked as a secretary in State Farms Claims and as an event coordinator at Northwest Inn in Woodward.
Sammie is survived by her husband, Bernard; two children, Marty Barnes (Becky) of Yukon, and Joni Johnson (Del ) of Oologah; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Wanda Edwards of Owasso; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Brad on Sept. 5, 2003; sister, Darlene Pecikonis; and stepsons, Sheldon and Lyle Murray.

Celebration of Life service for Barney Murray, 93, will be Tuesday, May 19, 2020, at 2:00 pm in Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Monday evening, 5:00 - 6:30 pm at Anderson-Burris.
Bernard was born on May 31, 1926, in a dugout in Woodward County, Oklahoma to Joseph J. and Fern Whitcomb Murray and died on May 14, 2020, in Enid, Oklahoma.
He grew up in Woodward County, before enlisting in the U.S. Army. Following his discharge, Barney married Thelma Branden and they had two sons, Sheldon and Lyle. He worked at Champlin Refinery for 31 years. After Thelma's death, Barney married Sammie Barnes. They made their home in Woodward, Mooreland and later Enid. Barney worked for Kirkpatrick Oil for a number of years. After Sammie's death, Barney married Peggy Jack and they made their home in Enid. Barney was a member of Enid First Assembly of God Church.
Barney was preceded in death by his wives, Thelma and Sammie; sons, Sheldon and Lyle; stepson, Brad Barnes; step-grandson, Tyler Barnes; brothers, Robert Murray and Forrest Murray (who died within hours of Barney); sister, Wyona Bartow.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy; daughters-in-law, Pam Murray and Marilyn Murray and Sam Stauffer; step children, Joni Johnson (Del), Marty (Becky) Barnes, Mike (Diane) Jack, Matt (Kim) Jack; 13 grandchildren; two great grandsons; sisters, Shirley Bartel, and Beverly Ludwyck; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
