ENID, OK — Funeral for Maurice Morley, 83, of Enid, will be 10 a.m. Monday, April 28, 2014, at First Baptist Church. The Rev. Keith Miller will officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation with family will be 6-8 p.m. today at 2424 Kelly Drive, Enid. Arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home & Crematory.

Maurice was born to Hugh and Oma (Fox) Morley March 5, 1931, in Wewoka, Oklahoma, and passed away Friday, April 25, 2014, in Enid, Oklahoma, after a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer’s.

Maurice graduated from Pine Tree High School in Longview, Texas, in 1948 and joined the Navy at age 17.

He was stationed at the Aleutian Island of Adak, Alaska, and Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, on the USS Baltimore and USS Columbus, during the Korean War.

He graduated from North Texas State University in Denton, Texas, in 1956, with a degree in mathematics.

He went to work in Madill, Oklahoma, for Warren Petroleum in 1956. He worked there as a plant chemist.

Maurice met and married Virginia Devin November 5, 1959, in Ardmore, Oklahoma.

While living in Madill, Maurice and Virginia had two sons, David and Greg. Maurice and family moved to Enid, in 1966, where he worked for 11 years as assistant superintendent for Pioneer National Gas Company, in Ringwood, Oklahoma.

In 1976, the family moved to Weatherford, Oklahoma, where he worked as plant superintendent at Pioneer’s Binger, Oklahoma, facility until his retirement in 1984.

Maurice and Virginia moved back to Enid in 2002, where he was a member of the First Baptist Church. Maurice was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing golf with his wife, sons, and grandson.

Maurice is survived by his wife Virginia of the home; two sons, David and wife Jaymie of Enid and Greg of Yukon; grandson Michael Morley and fiancée Taryn Longberry of North Carolina; and sister Glenda Hunt and husband James of Longview, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Richard.
