Roy Allen Monroe was born Dec. 2, 1926, in San Francisco, Calif., to Roy Lincoln and Hazel (Lawrence) Monroe and died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2014, at Greenbrier Nursing Home in Enid, Okla.
He served in ROTC, the U.S. Navy and U.S. Army Reserve for a number of years.
After his discharge from the military, he lived in Borger, Texas, where he worked in the oil fields.
He moved to Oklahoma for a job at Hamm and Phillips, where he worked 18 years, retiring in 1995.
In 1982, Roy married Reba Givens.
Roy was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, where he worked as custodian for 18 years, following his retirement.
He enjoyed tinkering in his garage, yard work, traveling and especially loved working with his hands.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Roy Allen Monroe Jr.; and stepdaughter, Suzanne Givens.
Roy is survived by his wife, Reba of the home; daughter, Vickie Bengs of Crescent and her four children, Jeff Bengs and wife Terrie of Quinton, Jason Bengs and wife Jalonda of Clinton, Kyle Bengs and wife Tommie of Crescent, and Tara Conner and husband Jeff of Crescent; son, Greg Monroe and wife Denese of Shawnee and their four children, Johnetta Radford and husband John of Dale, Danielle Cuyler and husband Gary of Dale, Adam Monroe and wife Paula of Prague, Okla., and Amanda Hess and husband Glenn of Shawnee; daughter, Pamela Farris of Oklahoma City and her son, Dirk Farris and wife Kayla of Mustang; daughter, Jill Carlock and husband Glen of Amarillo, Texas, and their three children, stepdaughters, Pat McBeath and husband David of Springfield, Mo., and their two daughters, Christina Deimund and husband Jeremy and Michelle McBeath, Pam Updyke and husband Edward of Prairie Village, Kan., and their two children, Desirae Hosmer and Brandon Updyke; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
The funeral service for Roy will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014, at Trinity Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, with full military honors given by the United States Navy. Service is under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.
Memorials can be given through the funeral home to Trinity Baptist Church.

Reba Givens Monroe was born June 14, 1930, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and died in Springfield, Missouri, on November 19, 2017. She married Bobby Givens on July 2, 1950, in Enid, OK. They had three children together and lived in various locations during his service with the Air Force. She worked many years at Evans Drug in Enid. She later met and married Roy Monroe. They were active members of Trinity Baptist Church until Roy passed away in 2014 and she moved to Springfield, Mo., to be closer to her daughters. She enjoyed volunteering at church, playing cards with friends, and watching her beloved Dallas Cowboys. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Thelma Drake; brother Bobby Drake, and daughter, Suzanne Givens.
Reba is survived by her two daughters, Pat McBeath and husband, David of Springfield, Mo., and Pam Updyke and husband, Ed of Overland Park, KS; grandchildren, Christina Deimund and husband Jeremy of Tyler, TX, Michelle McBeath of Oklahoma City, OK, Desirae Hosmer of Russell, KS, Brandon Updyke of Overland Park, KS, Ron Hulgan of Syracuse, NY and five great-grandchildren.
A graveside memorial service for Reba is 1 p.m. Saturday November 25th at Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum in Enid, OK with Reverend Floyd Westfall officiating, under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to her favorite charity, Samaritan's Purse at www.SamaritansPurse.org, or to Trinity Baptist Church, Enid, OK.
