Funeral services for Johnie Mittelstet, 86, of Enid, will be Saturday, March 4, 2006, at 10 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. The Rev. Paul Hass will officiate. Graveside service will be in the chapel of Memorial Park Cemetery, with burial to follow. Arrangements are by Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday in the Fellowship Hall at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

He was born to Carl and Amelia Sonnenberg Mittelstet Jan. 26, 1920, near Fairview and died Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2006, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

He graduated from Aline High School.

He married Esther Schweer Aug. 10, 1947, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Covington. He worked for Hackney Iron and Steel for 32 years and farmed. He served in the 836th Eng Avn Battalion, Army, during World War II. He was a very active member in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, YMCA and was a volunteer with the Habitat for Humanity.

He is survived by his wife, Esther, of the home; a daughter, Kathleen and husband, Francis Nutting, of Arvada, Colo.; sons, Randall and wife, Diana Mittelstet of Arvada, Colo., Roger Mittelstet and Brian Mittelstet, both of Enid; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, C.F. Mittelstet of Fairview; sisters, Emily Record of Enid, Doris Holle of Fairmont, and Marjorie Green of Seattle, Wash.

He was preceded in death by his infant son, Phillip, his parents, six sisters and four brothers.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran School or YMCA Back-A-Youth with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home acting as custodian of the funds.
