A Celebration of Life for Rufus Troy Mitchell, 103, Enid, is 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec.1, 2016, at the Willow Road Christian Church, with Pastor Carrell E. Still officiating. The interment follows in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-7 p.m. today, Nov. 30, 2016, at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Rufus was born Aug. 29, 1913, in Fresno, Calif., the son of Kenneth and Pearl Buck Mitchell. He was united in marriage to Grace White Aug. 12, 1933, in Rising Star, Texas. She preceded him in death Feb. 1, 1990. He retired in 1975 from Champlain Refinery, after 34 years. He was member of Davis Park Christian Church; and most recently a member of Willow Road Christian Church. He will be remembered as the family historian, a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors include a daughter, Percilla Penner and her husband, Charles, of Joplin, Mo.; a son, Dahl Mitchell, of Virginia; two grandchildren, Shelby Allen and her husband, Donny; Adam Penner and his wife, Tasha; four great-grandchildren, Tyler Penner, Lexus Allen, Bentley Allen and Colton Penner; and a brother, Olen Mitchell, of Hutchinson, Kan.
Memorial contributions may be made to Ozark Christian College, or St. Jude's Children Hospital, with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
