Rites Friday for L. J. (Lew) Miller

Funeral services for Lewis James (Lew) Miller, 83, longtime Enid resident and prominent in civic and Masonic circles, will be at 4:30 PM Friday in the Henninger – Allen Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Horace C. Casey will officiate and burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
He died Wednesday morning in an Enid hospital following a lengthy illness.
Born in Niles, Michigan, he moved to the prairies of Kansas, at what is now called Viola, then came to Enid in the early 1930s. He was a salesman for National Biscuit Company for many years, and later was special representative for Wilson and Company Meat Packers, Oklahoma City. In 1937 he joined Henninger – Allen Funeral Home staff where he remained until retiring due to ill health in July 1949.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman; member and past Pres. of the Kiwanis Club; Deacon in the First Presbyterian Church; member of Scottish Rite Masons, Valley of Guthrie; member and past master of Enid Masonic Lodge No. 80; a Schriner of Akdar Temple; member of White Shrine of Jerusalem and Watchman of the Shepherds; and member and past patron of Enid chapter 36, Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors are his widow, Lucille of the home, 1207 Sunset Dr.; one daughter, Mrs. Bruce Hinson, Enid; two grandsons, Bruce Hinson, Oklahoma City, and Brian Hinson, Enid; four great – grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Maude M. Missimore, Enid.
Members of Enid Kiwanis Club will sit in a group at the service.
