Rites Set Thursday for Dennis McManemin
Dennis McManemin, 56, a prominent resident of Enid for the past 20 years, died in his sleep early Monday morning at his home, 425 S. Hayes, from an apparent heart attack.
He owned and operated Denny's Men's Wear on the square for the past five years. Before that he had been in the loan business and had a recreational hall.
Since he came to Enid in 1946, McManemin was prominent in local golf circles and an active member of Oakwood Golf Club.
He served on the Greater Enid Chamber of Commerce and was a member of that organizations Committee of 100. He was also active in the Lions Club programs.
Born in Cherokee in 1909, McManemin lived in Waynoka before moving to Enid.
He was married to the former Glenndine Durkee in 1935 in Waynoka. Mrs. McManemin was graduated this spring from Phillips University.
Besides his widow, McManemin is survived by three daughters, Mrs. James P. (Frances) Gauley, Ft. Worth, Texas, Mrs. George (Lois Marie) Holman, Stillwater, and Ruth Jean McManemin of the home; two brothers, Keith McManemin of Enid and James McManemin of San Francisco, California, and one grandchild.
McManemin was an enthusiastic booster of the YMCA and was a member of Enid Sports Unlimited.
Funeral services will be at 2 PM Thursday in the First Methodist church with Rev. John Russell officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the Fossett Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be John Hronopulos, Peter Hronopulos, Ike Crawford, A. M. Lambertz, W. O. Gray and Lloyd Goodson.
