Rev. Lewis V. Maund, 92, 509 W. state, died Saturday afternoon in a local hospital following a two week illness.
He was a retired minister of the Methodist Church. He was born in Sabine Town, Texas, in 1880. He began his ministry as an itinerant preacher stationed at Texas City, Texas, and served under the Gulf Conference of the church. In 1929 he transferred to the Oklahoma Conference where he was pastor at Jet. He had served churches at Tonkawa, Dewey, Moreland and Carmen. He was a pastor of the Grand Avenue Methodist Church in Enid at the time of his retirement 17 years ago. Since his retirement he had preached for a couple of years at Lacy and Homestead. He married the former Elizabeth Goodloe June 10, 1908 in Texas, and she preceded him in death in July 1956. In October 1958 he married Irene Schwartz and she survives him. Since his retirement from the ministry he had been active in the real estate business. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Irene, of the home; one son, Lucian G. Maund of Decatur, Georgia; one daughter, Mrs. Paul (Lois) Cain, Enid; two sisters, Mrs. Virgil (Annie) Felts and Mrs. Horace (Vernon) Bates, both of League City, Texas; six step children; three grandchildren and three great – grandchildren.
Funeral services for Rev. Maund will be at 2 PM Tuesday in the First United Methodist Church with Dr. John Russell officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Fossett Funeral Home.
